Introduction

Qube Total Solutions (QTS) stands as the leading UK manufacturer of wire weld mesh solutions, catering specifically to the needs of warehouse spaces. Recently, QTS has taken a significant step towards sustainability by installing solar panels on their office building.

This initiative highlights their commitment to protecting the environment and aligns with their mission to embrace innovative and eco-friendly practices in their operations.

The drive towards sustainability for all buildings is more critical than ever. Recent regulations require businesses to achieve Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards. These regulations necessitate significant investments in energy-efficient measures, such as better insulation, improved lighting, and modern heating systems.

Failure to comply could lead to heavy fines and issues with lease agreements, making energy efficiency not just a regulatory requirement but a crucial business necessity.

In this case study, we will explore QTS’s journey towards sustainability with collaboration with Nene Electrical.

The Solution for QTS Ltd

Following a comprehensive technical feasibility study, the installation of a 75.250 kW solar system was recommended. This system will feature 175 Tier 1 Jinko solar panels (Tiger Neo N-type 54HL4R-B 420-440 Watt All Black) paired with 2 Solis inverters.

Renowned for their high efficiency and durability, Jinko solar panels ensure optimal performance. The system is projected to produce 64,042 kWh annually, providing sufficient energy for several households and significantly lowering electricity costs.

With a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty, this setup promises long-term dependability

The Environmental Win

With the new solar panel system, QTS Ltd achieves 21% of its energy from solar, reducing CO2 emissions by 16.2 tonnes annually. This equates to 484,788 car kilometres avoided, 3,117 trees planted, and 347 long-haul flights avoided over the system’s lifetime. The system is highly self-sufficient, consuming most of the energy it produces (92%), with a small percentage of energy exported to the grid (8%).

This solar panel system reduces QTS Ltd’s carbon footprint, contributing to long-term environmental sustainability and aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

The Financial Win

The solar installation is projected to save QTS with an estimated 25% of the total savings attributed to net savings. After installing solar panels, the monthly energy bills for QTS decreased by 80%, resulting in significant savings.

This financial model ensures a significant return on investment and aligns with QTS’s financial strategies for operational efficiency.
